Sunday Souvenirs // 13
What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a writer.
Even before I knew my alphabet, I was constantly "writing." I would make newspapers out of scribbly jot pad slips taped to a larger piece of paper. I would cut up a piece of paper into tiny squares, draw on each page, and then staple them all back together and call it a magazine or a book.
But my favorite childhood discovery is a beautiful to do list that now hangs framed over my desk. In wobbly letters, I outline my itinerary for the day:
- GET DRAST [dressed]
- EAT
- BRUSH TEETH
- PLAY WITH NATALIE [my across the street neighbor]
- CLEN [clean] ROOM
- HELP WITH LUNCH
- RITE ANUTHER BOOK
- PICK UP PINE CONES
And now I have a real book to share with you. NEXT WEEK my first book will be available for pre-order. I did technically make it, but someone else stapled it together for me. (Jk, it's very professionally printed.)
If you've ever arrived at your destination and then felt like you were sleepwalking for the whole trip, this is for you.
If you've ever gotten home from a vacation, looked at your iPhone camera roll and said, "wait, where was that??" this is for you.
If you want to enjoy your travel from the moment you step outside your house and create rich, deeply textured memories that you can carry with you for the rest of your life, this is for YOU!
