"Mistrust endeavors requiring new clothes." - Emerson
This quote has been a guiding star over the years, and it has helped me to curate a closet that matches my current needs as well as my aspirations.
Over the last month or so, I've been documenting my daily outfits in an attempt to break out of a pandemic rut and remember how many great pieces I have in my wardrobe. This exercise helped me a lot, because sometimes having a "uniform" can mean that you literally wear the same jeans and white t-shirt for days on end... whoops...
As I made my way through my closet and took inventory of every item, I realized that the old saying that "the clothes make the [wo]man" kind of goes both ways. Yes, what I wear directly influences my patterns of behavior (I'm likely to follow through on tasks when I'm wearing Real Clothes) but the growth in my interior life over the last few years has also influenced the way I choose to dress. There are fewer dresses in heavy rotation, almost no decorative heels, and next to no patterns whatsoever. The fit, fabric, and aesthetic of my wardrobe feels more like "myself" now than it ever has. Maybe that's a product of being 32?
One way or another, I've shared my findings as well as my guidelines for curating your own sustainable, secondhand wardrobe over on the blog this week! READ MORE HERE
PLUS check out the full photo set from the misty morning photoshoot that I did recently.
Be well, friend. Take care of each other.
